IWSK run both of the BCU’s Tidal Planning Courses. The first step on the ladder is the Coastal course, this introduces the concepts and fundamentals of navigating a sea kayak on the sea within reach of the shore, the second course looks at the more advanced skills required to make long open crossings. Both are essentially classroom based, but knowing kayakers as we do, we plan outside based exercises to reinforce learning and both courses have optional on the water practical’s. We run both as a one day course or as a series of modules over a number of weeks.

It will include a short practical session focusing on deck top navigation. This course satisfies the prerequisites for navigation training of the 4* assessment.
